ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - The Bills have a big hole to fill at the safety position after the departure of Pro Bowler Jairus Byrd in the offseason, and they're looking toward Aaron Williams to plug it.

Williams made the switch from corner to safety last season and played pretty well there, notching four interceptions and a forced fumble. Da'Norris Searcy and Duke Williams are likely to fight it out for the other starting spot.

New defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz likes interchangeable safeties, and Williams certainly fits the bill with his athleticism, versatility and experience covering receivers.

"He can range from the middle of the field. He can cover a guy man to man," Schwartz said. "He's got those hybrid safety-corner skills. I hadn't studied him since he came out of college, but the one thing that impressed me the most was his physical play."

The Bills are back out on the practice field Monday morning for the third and final week of organized team activities.
