Not for the lack of effort, the Sabres came up short in Ottawa. Buffalo racked up a season high 41 shots, resulting in just one goal and a 2-1 loss.
Back on First Niagara Ice, the team was getting ready for a 2 p.m. faceoff with the Calgary Flames Saturday.
The wins and goals are still hard to come by right now, but the team is starting to get more competitive. When Ted Nolan took over as interim head coach, he talked about trusting your fellow players. It appears that trust is starting to come around.
"Before you compete you have to trust and you have to be accountable. The last couple of games, I really felt that the guys were competing hard and trusting one another and feeling good about themselves and with any kind of luck we would have had better faith last night, but overall the trust is coming and the compete level is coming and everything is going in the right direction," said Nolan.
