Mendon Country Club's Gavin Hall shot a three-under par 69 at Irondequoit Country Club on Thursday and leads the Rochester District Golf Championship by five shots.
"Fortunately I was out early this morning and had great greens to putt on. I got some practice in last night, just a little bit and was really swinging well on the front. I made some putts and tried to get a little momentum going on the back but I made a few bogies and was kind of up and down on the back so I'm satisfied with the round and a pretty good position headed into the weekend," Hall said after finishing.
Matt Van Niekerk and Larry Sand are both one over par in a round that saw a couple of weather delays, including three hours before the groups teed off. Trevor Sluman is two over par with six holes to play Friday morning.
Around 30 players will complete their second rounds on Friday morning. While the women's tournament gets started, the men will make their cut and begin their third round between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
