The University of Rochester men's basketball team is getting set for its upcoming game against Ithaca as the NCAA Division III tournament resumes this weekend.
The 22-4 Yellowjackets face 20-8 Ithaca at the Palestra on Saturday night. The winner advances to the Sweet 16.
It will be the final home game for Rochester star John DiBartolomeo. The Division III Player of the Year candidate is the player opposing teams focus on shutting down, but it's the supporting cast that the senior guard credits with his success.
"My teammates get a lot of attention. That's really what opens things up for me. The big men set great screens a lot of times for me and that enables me to get in the lane and make plays. Because of how good our shooters are and our finishers are, they have to respect them and that's why I get to the lane so much and get to the free throw line and the basket," he said.
Personal accomplishments come throughout the year and they're all team awards. The main goal is go as far as we can in the tournament and if we could get to Salem, and Atlanta, that's where our goals lie. That's what we think about and that's what we work for."
