This was a game the Bills really needed to have. If not for anything, just to show they had some fight left in them heading down the stretch here in December. All week long the players and coaches talked about playing a complete game - offense, defense and special teams, all pitching in in their win over the Jaguars.
"Starting with the special teams for giving us great field position, especially with the elements out there," noted safety George Wilson. "It's a wet ball game you know you won't be able to throw the ball as effectively as you could in fair conditions, but we won the field position battle today. We got off the field on third down as a defense and our offense converted touchdowns in the red zone."
"We scored 34 points and it felt like we could have had more points up there but you know we can't be too greedy with that with a 'W,'" said Stevie Johnson. "It feels good at the end of the day we're one more step to hopefully getting to the playoffs with help you know."
The win over the Jaguars did come with a price. A number of Bills players including Johnson, Eric Wood, Leodis McKelvin, and Chris Hairston left the field with injuries. Their status will be updated Monday. When we talked to Johnson in the locker room, he said his hamstring just tightened up and that he should be ok. He'll test it out as the week goes on. The Bills posted their fifth win, up next they'll host the Rams here at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
