Spiller in primetime spotlight

  • Text size: + -

Primetime NFL football back at Ralph Wilson Satdium for the first time since 2008. The Bills host the Dolphins tonight in a must win game for both teams. It seems like forever that the Bills played home, much less won a game at home. Their last victory came a month ago at Arizona. The only home win was back in week two over Kansas City.

So it's must win-mode for the 3-6 Bills as they get set to play the teams first primetime game in four years. Long time rival Miami visitis the Ralph to kick off week 11.

An interesting note -- about this time last year, running back Fred Jackson was injured against Miami and CJ Spiller was then called on to start. Well, Fred Jackson is out again, and a more mature Spiller will once again be asked to carry the load.

"That is the biggest thing and like I tell a lot of people this is my first true NFL off-season," said Spiller. "My first year, I had to do the contract and last year we had the lockout. I think all the hard work that I have put in over the years is starting to pay off, but I am not complacent. I am going to continue to work at my craft and continue to get better. I am not doing anything different this year than I had done in the past."

I think the biggest thing with C.J., and we have talked about this before kind of the end of last year and beginning of this year, is his confidence," added quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. "He has always had the athletic ability and the talent. It is just his confidence is at another level right now and I think that stems from how he performed at the end of last year."

When Jackson was injured in the season opener this season, Spiller had two monster games as the featured back, putting up 100-plus yards against the Jets and Cheifs before suffering an injury in Cleveland. Another big game from Spiller would go along way in snapping the Bills current three-game losing streak. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
