ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority is discontinuing Route 52, the Park Ave Express route.
It takes riders from East Avenue to UR Medicine, but according to the RGRTA, there aren't enough people taking advantage of it. The service peaked at 260 fares a day, and because of that, it will end Aug. 31.
For some patients and hospital employees, it's a big disappointment.
"Parking and congestion around the medical center is already a significant issue, and with the further development in the area, that's likely to in fact become more difficult over time. So, public transportation is a real asset for the community and in particular for this area which is becoming so densely utilized and populated," said UR Medicine COO Peter Robinson.
The University of Rochester is holding an informational meeting at 12 p.m. Tuesday in the Ryan Case Method Room for people with questions.
