The Rochester Taproom alongside the Genesee River in Corn Hill was packed Thursday with fans cheering on Team USA.
Many took off work, but didn't get to see the result they hoped for, as the U.S. lost 1-0 to Germany, one of the world's best squads. Still, the U.S. advances to the knockout round.
These fans said the excitement over soccer is here to stay.
"Just evidenced by the last couple games and the support we had here, the fact that we can get behind a team and maybe someday actually win a World Cup would be great. My lifetime would be great. My son's lifetime, we can do it," said Adam Leszyk, Penfield resident.
Taproom owner Joe McBane, a transplant from England, said the restaurant has been open for three months now, and if a soccer game is being broadcast, you can watch it there.
