Four Charged in LDC Probe Appear in Court

  • Text size: + -

The four men charged in the Local Development Corporation scandal appeared in court Thursday. This hearing centered around amending one of the counts and the statute of limitations.

The Attorney General's office asked the court to amend the dates in count three of the indictment, where Daniel Lynch, John Maggio and Nelson Rivera are alleged to have rigged the bidding process of Upstate Telecommunications Corporation.

The dates listed in the indictment are from September 2008 to May 2009. The prosecution is asking the end date be changed to March 2012.

Defense attorneys believe the original date may not fit within the statute of limitations.

Acting State Supreme Court Justice Robert Noonan set aside July 24 for attorney James Nobles to argue dismissing charges against his client, Robert Wiesner, the husband of Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks.

If the charges are dropped, Nobles believes the prosecution should not be allowed to re-present the case to a new grand jury. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
