WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — There is a big-name act coming to scale new heights at Darien Lake this summer. Daredevil tightrope walker Nik Wallenda hopes folks will be wired up for his show, "Nik Wallenda, Beyond the Falls."

"We're committed to providing Western New York with the greatest family entertainment, and I couldn't think of a better fit than Nik Wallenda,” said Vince Nicoletti, Darien Lake marketing director.

This announcement was made at a Tim Horton’s in Williamsville, who is one of the presenting sponsors.

"The show at Darien Lake is a very intimate setting, where you will get to know Nik Wallenda. It’s up close and personal. At points, the audience will be 15 feet away from me,” said Wallenda.

Wallenda made history in 2012, when he made his trek across Niagara Falls with millions of people watching.

The latest 60-minute thrill coming to Darien Lake will feature Nik and other acts from around the world, performing high-flying stunts on the tight rope. His family will also join him, except for his kids.

"They might do something on the ground, but nothing on the wire. I started walking the wire at age two. They all walk the wire, but I won't let them go 10 feet even – a totally different mentality than my parents had," said Wallenda.

The performances will be free for guests at Darien Lake, with some interactive shows where the performers will let the audience try walking on the wire as well.
