NATIONWIDE--UPS and FedEx are blaming the Christmas Eve delays on bad weather, an increase in online shopping, and fewer shopping days this season.
The companies said people who haven't received their Christmas gifts yet should get them soon.
UPS said it called in extra workers Christmas night to deal with the crush of packages that didn't make it to their destinations before the holiday.
UPS and FedEx both experienced delays this season, despite people paying for express shipping to guarantee Christmas delivery.
Neither company will say how many packages were delayed, but both say it was a "small share" of overall holiday shipments.
