CENTENNIAL, Colo. — The shooter in a Colorado high school shooting has died of an apaprent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Sheriff's officials in the town of Centennial reported that news Friday afternoon, shortly after reports of a shooter at Arapahoe High School first broke.
The shooter was a student that officials declined to identify.
Students were seen fleeing the school late Friday morning local time.
One student was taken to a nearby hospital with a serious gunshot wound. A second student was also hurt. Whether that student was shot isn't known.
Officials had no indication anything was going to happen.
"We have had no threats. We've had no issues that we had concern with at this school this week or in the immediate past," said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.
That school is just eight miles from Littleton, the town in which the Columbine shooting happened in 1999. Friday is also the eve of the one-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting.
