There's some still time to donate online to the annual ROC the Day campaign. The 24 hours of giving supports people in the nine-county Greater Rochester area. YNN's Wendy Mills has more on how easy it is to give and one of the organizations on the list.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The United Way's ROC the Day is a way to simply click and donate how much you want and where at roctheday.org.
There are more than 600 agencies and programs to choose from in nine area counties.
There are health organizations, environmental programs, arts and culture, animal rescue operations, educational services and more.
Director Adele Fico at Rochester's School of the Arts has students in need and volunteers with Friends of SOTA.
The all-volunteer, not-for-profit group provides financial support to needs of kids. Funds pay for things like art supplies, dance shoes, winter coats, costumes and other personal needs...even a tux to the prom.
"Whatever we do. whether it is sending a student to a workshop or bring an artist in, it is always to benefit he artistic, the educational and the cultural experience here at School of the Arts and that's what Friends does," Fico said.
Every little bit helps. Adele said pocket change adds up and is used. Friends of SOTA is able to assist with some 3,000 different student requests each year.
"More than half of our kids live below the poverty line in this school and so Friends really is a very very vital organization here. The work we do is very simple but it incredibly helpful," Fico said.
At ROC the Day, it's your choice where to donate and how much.

ROC the Day is taking donations until 11:59 p.m. tonight.
