Wednesday is the annual ROC the Day campaign, 24 hours of online giving to support people in the nine-county Greater Rochester area.
This is billed as an easy way to help organizations of your choice online.
There are more than 600 participating agencies and programs to choose from.
The United Way's ROC the Day is taking donations through 11:59pm Wednesday at ROCtheday.org.
Donors can select agencies from health organizations, environmental programs, arts and culture, animal rescue, education and more.
This includes programs in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, Orleans, Yates and Ontario Counties.
Adele Fico at Rochester's School of the Arts has students in need and volunteers with Friends of SOTA.
The all-volunteer, not-for-profit group provides financial support for kids. Funds pay for things like art supplies, dance shoes, winter coats, costumes and other personal needs, even a tux to the prom.
"Whatever we do. whether it is sending a student to a workshop or bring an artist in, it is always to benefit the artistic, the educational and the cultural experience here at School of the Arts and that's what Friends does," said Fico.
Friends of SOTA is able to assist with more than 3,000 different student requests each year.
"More than half of our kids live below the poverty line in this school and so Friends really is a very, very vital organization here. The work we do is very simple but it incredibly helpful," Fico said.
Last year, ROC the Day registered a total of 10,069 donations for a grand total of $875,000.
Organizers hope to surpass that amount this year.
