The George Eastman House has filed a lawsuit to prevent construction of an apartment complex in the East Avenue Preservation District.
The lawsuit against the City of Rochester and Morgan Management was filed on Monday in State Supreme Court.
In a letter to Eastman House members, director Bruce Barnes explains that the landmark could face damage from the 99-unit complex being built just 20-feet from the property line.
George Eastman House says the project proceeded without an environmental impact statement. It also said that the project would not satisfy the purpose of the development district.
Eastman House members are invited to learn more from a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Curtis Theatre.
