Millions of citizens across Ukraine have staged demonstrations over the past month in support of the European Union.
Saturday morning local Ukrainians held their own support rally in Irondequoit.
Pro-European Union protests called “Euromaidan" began November 21st. Ukrainian citizens started spontaneous peaceful demonstrations in the capital of Kiev.
They've since become increasingly violent and have spread to many surrounding cities. The protests are against the Ukrianian government, which suspended preparations for signing a free trade agreement with the European Union.
"I've lived here for 2 years but I was born in Ukraine and I spent most of my life in Ukraine," said Oleksandr Pylybyuk. "So I need to support my motherland. My soul is still there so I need to support them.
Petitions in support of the Euromaidan were collected along with sanctions against the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and their cabinet.
