State Police say inmate deaths appear to be drug related

  • Text size: + -

WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. -- More details have been released on the deaths of two inmates at Attica Correctional Facility.

State Police said two men, ages 25 and 51, were found dead in their cells on Thursday.

Troopers said they were in separate cells and were unattended at the time.

State Police said it appears the two men died as a result of a drug overdose. But they said the investigation is ongoing.

A third inmate found was also taken to the hospital. But Troopers said he was treated for an unrelated medical condition.
