A Willie Nelson concert at SeaWorld gets canceled and a Wayne County woman's efforts may have been the reason why. YNN's Sheba Clarke has more on the story.

WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. -- "The animals do have a voice but no one listens," said Danielle Legg. Legg has been using her voice for animal rights issues for years. "I'm able to use mine and have people pay attention," she said.

And watching the documentary 'BlackFish' only made that voice stronger. The documentary released this fall, dives into life of the SeaWorld performing killer whale, Tilikum. "Tilikum has been in captivity for 30 years," she said.

In response to the documentary, Legg started an online petition, asking country singer Willie Nelson to cancel his scheduled concert there.

Within days signatures climbed to nearly 9,200.

In a CNN phone interview, Nelson said after so many calls and signatures, he decided not to perform. Same went for the band, BareNaked Ladies.

"I understand there's petitions going around with thousands of people's names on it so you know, I had to cancel. And l also I don't agree with the way they treat their animals," said Nelson during that interview.

"It's pretty amazing to see BareNaked Ladies pull out of the SeaWorld venue as well as Willie Nelson, now and I hope others will follow suit," said Legg.

Legg says her petition was declared a victory before it was even sent. And it gives her even more momentum to keep advocating.

"I think it sends a clear message that we're not okay with it anymore that things are changing."
