Members of city hall took time out Friday to get into the holiday spirit.

A 22-foot white spruce is now lit in the atrium.

This was Mayor Tom Richards last time attending the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony as Mayor. Students from the school of the arts choir performed and sang the song "beautiful city" in Richards' honor.

"I'm really proud of them, you know I meant what I said. I think, and I've tried to do that in my term here. I've tried to not just talk about the problems and lord knows there's a lot of them. But I've tried to remind people that in the middle of this, there's a lot of good kids doing a good job. A lot of good teachers as you saw. So I was touched by that. It was nice of them to do," said Richards.

Elementary students from George Mather Forbes School #4 also performed at the ceremony. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
