The annual La Avenida tree lighting ceremony celebrates Rochester's Hispanic community.
For 12 years, the North Clinton Neighborhood Association has decorated the live tree on the corner of Clinton and Clifford Avenues.
Rochester firefighters, mounted patrol and students from schools nine and 20 joined in the festivities that included holiday songs and a parade.
Even Frosty, Rudolph and Santa, who hitched a ride on Truck 10, celebrated.
"Good things do happen as well here. Our hopes is to continue to make it a better place so that in the future we can look and say we did it," said North Clinton Neighborhood Resident Alber Algarin.
Hispanics represent 16 percent of the Rochester population. This area of the city, called La Avenida, is continuing to make positive changes. The city is in the middle of a million dollar streetscape improvement project.
