NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A Buffalo area politician says businessman Donald Trump is considering a run for New York governor.
Trump met with a number of Republicans in New York City Wednesday afternoon about the idea.
Assemblymen David DiPietro and Bill Nojay arranged the meeting and said Trump has every qualification they're looking for and need in a governor.
DiPietro said Trump has created jobs and due to his business background, could help keep people from leaving the state.
"Being a businessperson he knows the regulations, he knows the tax situation, the financial structure that holds us back in this state and that too many elected officials have been unwilling to change," DiPietro said. "I think he'd make a phenomenal governor."
A spokesperson for Trump confirmed the meeting and said Trump has agreed to meet with the group again at a later date about the idea.
