ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- An incentive for Rochester Amerks Goalies to make Saves for Education.

Citizens Bank will donate five dollars to Junior Achievement for every save an Amerks Goalie makes during a game.

On Tuesday, a 6th grade class at East Irondequoit Middle School was able to meet Amerks Player Matt Mackenzie in person.

Citizens Bank was also there to teach them about financial literacy and the importance of saving.

Kids received a bank and a photo with Mackenzie.

The Saves for Education program is a joint effort between YNN, Citizens Bank and the Rochester Americans.

"At the end of the year we are making a donation to Junior Achievement. Every time there's a save by an Amerks Goalie, we donate $5 to Junior Achievement and at the end of the year we'll make a presentation to them for the money that we raised to also help with financial education in the school districts that they already participate in," said Chuck Hinkel, Citizens Bank.

All Hockey Season long teachers, parents and students can log onto the Amerks' website at to nominate their classroom.

An Amerks player will visit one of those classrooms every month throughout the season. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
