There's a candlelight vigil tonight in Rochester to honor fallen and injured law enforcement officers from around the state.

The organization called the Genesee Valley Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), hosts the annual service.

This group works together to make sure that survivors and their families get the best care possible and part of that is the emotional support to let them know fallen officers are never forgotten.

Genesee Valley C.O.P.S says that every year across the country more than 140 officers are killed in the line duty. Tonight's memorial honors some of those who died recently, including New York State Troopers Ross Riley, William Keane and Winston Martindale.

There will also be a special time to honor those who died while not on duty. They will also honor two police K-9's. One was shot and killed during a mass shooting and homicide in Herkimer. Family and co-workers of Webster Police Lieutenant Mike Chiapperini are expected to attend the service. Chiapperini was shot and killed Christmas Eve in an ambush in Webster while responding to a fire on Lake Road.

The Candlelight Memories Vigil is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church. It's located at 141 East Ave.
