Construction on Golisano Children's Hospital continues. URMC gave us a tour of what crews have been working on the last year.

The new hospital will be 245,000 square feet that includes eight floors. The interior includes art and landscapes focused on Upstate New York. Each floor has a different theme.

To test materials and design, URMC had exterior and interior mock-ups built, and the rooms are more spacious and private. The mock-ups are used to help hospital staff, designers and architects finalize choices before the private rooms are finished.

"It is a floor that was constructed with children and families in mind right from the get-go. I think it will be easier for us to give the kind of care we would want our own children to have," said Dr. Nina Schor, pediatrician-in-chief at Golisano Children's Hospital.

"It just brought me back to when we were here, and the rooms are so big and there is just so much more. It is amazing I think these are fabulous," said Jackie Klube of Bloomfield.

Jackie's daughter, Ali, was a patient at the hospital. So far, Jackie's fundraising team has raised $165,000 for the hospital. The hospital has 18 million more dollars to raise.

The hospital is expected to open in 2015. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
