There was a history lesson Friday in Brighton from the History Channel and Time Warner Cable.
The "Take a Veteran to School Day" initiative links schools across America with war veterans.
Honored vets shared some of their stories with students at Brighton High School.
For students, the program is a way to make the words on history book pages come alive.
One vet took them back 69 years to the "Battle of the Bulge."
"The cold weather, the freezing, the lack of supplies. We were surrounded in Bastogne. It was a terrible battle, and it went on for six weeks. It didn't just last a day or two, it lasted six weeks. It was greatest and bloodiest battle in our nation's history. We had 90,000 casualties," said John Foy, WWII Veteran.
There were also soldiers from Vietnam and the Gulf Wars at the presentation.
Time Warner is the parent company of YNN.
