Rochester

Polls Close on Election Night

  • Text size: + -

The polls are closed and votes are being counted this election night.

The highest-profile race in the area is for Rochester's mayor. Democrat Lovely Warren and Green Party candidate Alex White are facing off against incumbent Tom Richards, who has not campaigned.

Other contests include the race for town supervisor in Greece, Henrietta, Hamlin, Irondequoit, and Pittsford. In Livingston County, voters will also decide on a new sheriff for the first time in 24 years.

In addition to casting your vote for any local officials, there will also be six proposed changes to the New York State Constitution. Those propositions will be listed on the back of your ballot, so be sure to flip it over when it comes time to vote.

One of the most controversial amendments has been Proposition One. If passed, it would allow non-Indian casino gaming in New York State. Check out New York's Big Bet. Capital Tonight's Nick Reisman looks at the pros and cons of bringing casinos to New York State.
