The first female Vice President of Rotary International was the key note speaker at the Salute to Women Pioneers dinner on Sunday.

Anne Matthews, who was appointed to the position in July, presented a portrayal of Susan B. Anthony with the Paul Harris Fellow.

The fellow named after Rotary's founder is presented after every $1,000 donation to Rotary.

Women from Rotary Clubs in Rochester and across the Northeast were recognized at the 88th annual dinner.

"Rotary International has been in existence for just over 100 years, but, we have only allowed female members for a quarter of a century," said Bob Attardo, President of Rochester Rotary Club. "And, we are celebrating all of the accomplishments that they have made in rotary, and the benefits that they have brought to rotary over the last 25 years."

The Paul Harris Fellow pin and certificate presented on Sunday will be placed in the Susan B. Anthony Museum. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
