NEW YORK--A new survey suggests there's a growing acceptance of online dating
with a majority of Internet users now saying it's a good way to meet people.
The study from the Pew Research Center finds 59% of Internet users agreed online dating is a good way to meet people.
That's up from 44% in 2005.
But overall, the study shows only 10% of Americans said they've tried online dating.
38% of Americans who characterize themselves as "single" and looking for a relationship said they've used an online dating site or mobile dating app.
At the same time, more than half of online daters surveyed said they believe some people "seriously misrepresented themselves" online.
