Police in Brighton have identified two men killed in a weekend murder-suicide. It happened Sunday afternoon at the Elmwood Avenue apartment complex.

Police say a number of people called 911 to report a disturbance and shots fired at the Elmwood Avenue apartment complex.

According to Brighton Police, Matthew Fix, 29, shot Jonathan Pender, 30, multiple times and then shot himself.

Fix survived the gunshot wound but died later at the hospital.

Chief Mark Henderson of the Brighton Police Department spoke to family members of the two men.

"As you are aware and can imagine, they are all very torn right now and they're trying to make sense out of this tragic incident, and we spend quite a bit of time with them yesterday and we're all trying to make sense of what happened," Henderson said.

No one else was inside the apartment at the time of the incident.
