The Rochester City School District says it has room for more kids in its Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program.

UPK takes place every weekday, and it's free for Rochester four-year-olds.

The district has 80 openings available at its agency locations.

Children have two and a half hours of instruction and activities each school day. The UPK program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten. Educators say it has a positive impact on student learning.

If the remaining openings are not filled, the district says it could lose state funding for the program.

For more information, parents are encouraged to call (585) 262-8100. There also more information available on the UPK section of the district's website. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
