The American Heart Association held an event Thursday to raise money to fight the leading cause of death in women: heart disease.
The Go Red for Women volunteer passion committee hosted the "Helpers with Heart" service auction. During the event, a silent auction was held along with a unique runway auction.
The Go Red for Women campaign hopes to raise more than $115,000 through this and other events.
"All the funds stay in the community and that's what's really important but I think that it's not just tonight that they need to be paying attention to the issue. It is a 365-day issue that everyone should be aware of," said Jane Mazur, Helpers with Heart Service Auction co-chair.
The American Heart Association say more women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined.
