Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy came back to Rochester on Wednesday to endorse the man who used to work for him: Mayor Tom Richards.
Duffy began working with Richards almost eight years ago. Richards served as corporation council to then-Mayor Duffy from 2005 to 2010.
Duffy said he supports Richards as he works to continue to move Rochester forward and improve quality of life across the city.
"We are at a point in time where we need someone who has a steady hand, the background Tom has in business. He's what the city needs at this time. The city is very lucky to have Tom Richards; have him agree to do this in the first place," said Lt. Gov. Duffy, D-New York.
Duffy said that he believes in Lovely Warren's work as city council president. Warren is running against Richards in the Democratic primary.
In a statement released by Warren, Duffy's endorsement of Richards did not come as a surprise to her and says the only endorsement she cares about is that of the voters.
