It's back to school for most of the thousands of students in the greater Rochester area Wednesday. Teachers spent the day getting their classrooms ready.

In the Rochester City School District, the board and superintendent used the Kodak Park School on West Ridge Road as the stage to spread their single most important message of the school year.

"We are asking every mom, day or adult to make sure our kids are reading at least 30 minutes per day. That they have a library card. Reading could be contagious in this city," said superintendent Bolgen Vargas.

Vargas also emphasized that the city school district is going to be cracking down on truancy saying, if you're not there, you're not learning. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
