Two schools that are used to running against each other ran together in a 5K race for the Cal-Mum 5.

Saturday night, students from LeRoy and Caledonia-Mumford schools joined community members for an illuminated cross-country race at night.

The event raised funds for the families of the two injured and three killed in the Wheatland crash in July.

The race course was covered by nearly two thousand lights and luminary bags.

"For about the last two years we've been mulling over the concept for an event like this but then that really just kind of put it into sharp focus that there's just no better cause in our mind than right here right now to do it," said Pat Privatera, Race Coordinator.

Privatera says at least 600 runners and walkers pre-registered for the event. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
