Runners took off at the Greater Rochester International Airport Saturday morning.
They pounded the runways to help people living with developmental disabilities. The 14th Annual Airport 5K Walk and Run is the most important fundraiser for Lifetime Assistance.
The event also featured static aircraft displays and the zoo-mobile. Special guest Abby Wambach also made an appearance.
"Any time, especially having grown up in Rochester, and through and through have the family-first belief system, no matter how successful you can become as a human being, I believe you have to give back," said Wambach. "And the fact that Lifetime, they got in touch with me, this 5K run, it's all about giving back."
Ottawa native Dana Buchanan came in first for the women and Partrick Geoghegan of Syracuse won the Airport 5K race with a time of 14:51.
