A suspect is now under arrest, in the investigation into a home invasion and sex assault in the Village of LeRoy in Genesee County.

Police charged Charles Johnson, 29, of LeRoy with several felonies, including predatory sex abuse, burglary and possession of a weapon.

Johnson allegedly entered the victim's apartment and sexually assaulted her at knife point in the early hours of May 9.

Investigators say the suspect had been living in LeRoy only about two months, and are calling this a stranger-related home invasion.

"Very rare. Very very rare. I've been on the job for 24 years. We've had people who have been burglars. We have people who have committed rapes, but to put both of them together extremely rare," said Detective John Condidorio, LeRoy Police Department.

Police say Johnson has a criminal record in Florida.

Johnson was arraigned in LeRoy Village Court and remanded to the county jail with no bail. He's due back in LeRoy Court on Friday.
