East Pembroke firefighters found something unusual in a tree Saturday evening.

A weather balloon touched down in Pembroke. East Pembroke firefighters responded to a white balloon suck in a tree. There was no box attached although some residents did see it while it was still in the air.

Batavia firefighters received a call from the National Weather Service updating them on where and why it crashed.

"I've never see one in Genesee County, I've never seen one period but the Weather Service
ended up calling our dispatchers in Batavia and told them that it was theirs and it had crashed here," said Don Newton, East Pembroke Fire Chief.

The National Weather Service said it did not reach its destination due to the lack of wind.
