We now have a better idea of exactly when Hollywood will be coming to Rochester. Filming for the upcoming Spiderman movie will take place in Rochester.

It will include car chase scenes.

"A car chase scene would be really great down on Main Street," said attorney Lou Noto.

"Car chases down Main Street in Rochester," said Don Jeffries, VisitRochester. "I mean, how cool is that?"

A superhero scaling downtown buildings? Not likely, but the logistics of upcoming shoots for The Amazing Spiderman 2 movie in Rochester are taking shape.

"How cool will it be to go see Spiderman 2 and go, 'hey! I know that place!'" exclaimed Jeffries.

Producers tell the city they'll start shooting scenes here the last day of April.

"A lot of times, when these production companies come in, cities say we can't do this, we can't do that. The city of Rochester and the county did just the opposite," Jeffries said.

"I think that's very exciting and it's great for Rochester," said Noto.

The Spiderman shoot is generating a lot of buzz. It'll take hundreds of crew members, hundreds of movie extras, and it surely will attract spectators hoping to catch a cinematic car chase.

"Well, it's back to when I grew up, back in the 50s and 60s. They used to drag race up and down Main Street. In those days, it was a different world," Noto said.

"I think it's a great idea. I hope we can get much more like it. I mean, anything that puts focus on downtown is fine with me," said downtown worker John Chirinko.

The Spiderman shoot will require at least a portion of Main Street to be shut down each day for production for about a week and a half.

Streets will need to be closed to accommodate shooting. RGRTA will detour buses from Main Street during that time.

"People who work on Main Street, the companies there, they're going 'wow. This is really cool. This is going to be fun to watch,' and if they're inconvenienced and have to drive around the block, it's no big deal," Jeffries said.

The economic impact of the Spiderman production has leaders excited, but so does the fact that it's just plain cool.

"This is going to be really fun for the city of Rochester."
