One year ago, peace advocate Lawrence Richardson was killed on Dayton Street in Rochester. Family and friends gathered Tuesday on Dayton Street in remembrance.
Richardson's family says he was a tough kid on the streets until he found a mentor
from Team Empowerment, who changed his life as a young adult. Richardson became a leader and an advocate against violence.
His family says it's even harder knowing that they lost him to violence. They just want him to be remembered as a symbol for peace.
"He was a star for Rochester and we just don't want him to be forgotten or his works to be forgotten, actually," said Michelle Richardson, aunt.
There are no suspects in the case. The family is still hoping that someone will come to the police with information.
