An RIT student remains in guarded condition after he was thrown from a car early Saturday morning.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies were called to 16 Andrews Memorial Drive in Henrietta around 12:15 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck.

Deputies say Daniel Pise, 20, of Clifton, NJ, was driving his car when Stephen Sapp, 22, of Newark, jumped onto the moving vehicle. The two men are friends.

Pise continued driving for about 25 feet and Sapp fell off the car as it turned. Sapp sustained a life threatening head injury and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. Sapp is currently in guarded condition.

Pise was not intoxicated and police continue to investigate the incident. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
