Monroe Community College President Anne Kress accepted the 27th annual Athena Award on Thursday. It's an award that recognizes professional women for their leadership in their field.
The Rochester Business Alliance Women's Council presented the award to Kress during a reception at the Convention Center.
Kress was acknowledged for leading a nationally recognized, multi-campus college and playing a key role in the area of college readiness, college completion, workforce development and diversity.
"I think the connection between the college and the community, that's really one of the things that I've been working on, as well as workforce development; how can we help move the whole community forward by helping those people find their pathways to prosperity, so that to me is significant in everyone's life," Kress said.
Anne Kress was chosen from a field of 15 finalists based on her achievements, community service and leadership in the advancement of other professional women.
