A village in Cayuga County is advising its residents to boil all water before using it after high winds on Saturday.
The Cayuga County health department is ordering customers of the Village of Cayuga and Town of Aurelius Water District #3 to boil all water for drinking and cooking before using it.
The high winds on Cayuga Lake Saturday forced sand on the lake's floor into a water intake pipe. There is a chance the water may contain disease-causing organisms.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.
