It's a once in a lifetime day.

December 12, 2012, has been considered a fortunate day for thousands and for three local families it's a day they'll never forget.

For Erin and Jason Higley, it's a day where life begins. After less than four hours of labor, that's when Erin and Jason Higley welcomed their newborn baby boy Holden into his world. Staff at Highland says he was the first baby born at the hospital on 12-12-12.

"He was due on the 16th, but our first son was actually four days earlier so there was the thought and possibility that he could be born on 12-12-12," said Jason.

To the Higley's the actual date itself isn't as significant as the new life it brings.

"It's a numerically fun date, but there's no real significance. "The idea of 12-12-12 is fun and it's easy to remember," said Jason.

But the day means much more to Moranda and her 12-year-old daughter Serenity Williams.

"You'll never get a day like this again but we're going to take it and we're going to run with it," said Moranda.

The family celebrated Serenity's 12th birthday at a Greece restaurant.

"It does feel special to have a 12-12-12and then turning 12," said Serenity.

Twelve may not be Serenity's lucky number, but she definitely considers herself fortunate to be celebrating on this once in a lifetime day.

"We're not really into good luck, bad luck, I would consider myself as very special and unique," said Serenity.

From one part of the spectrum to another, 12-12-12 brought a full circle moment to Josephine Cimino.

"It's a momentous occasion of course," said Anne Zicari-Lopez, Cimino's niece.

Cimino's family celebrated 100 years of her life with a party at Wegman Family Cottages. Born in 1912, she was one of nine children.

For all of these families, the globally celebrated day was special in it's own way. Another day to share memories while creating new ones.
