Thousands were expected to leave the dinner table and hit the malls for an early jump on Black Friday.

Many retail stores opened early this year. Stores like Target opened their doors well before midnight. Angie Butler waited in line at Target for five and a half hours to get her grandson a Christmas gift.

"I went to K-Mart this morning at 4:30 A.M. to get the Xbox, I didn't get it there so this is my second straw," said Butler.

Walmart started selling Black Friday deals at 8 P.M. Meanwhile, stores like Best Buy stuck to its midnight open.

Retailers say Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. By opening early, some shoppers say it gives them a head start on big doorbuster deals. Some surveys have already projected an increase in holiday spending this year.

"We are after a 50-inch tv, an Xbox 360, Playstation Vita, a blu-ray player. We have lists from relatives in Cincinnati, so we're getting everybody stuff," said Donna Graen, shopper.

Graen was one of the hundreds of shoppers who lined up outside of Target in Henrietta.

Local malls like Marketplace, Eastview and The Mall at Greece Ridge open at 6 A.M. on Friday.

Some of the individual retailers in the malls open even sooner. More than 50 stores at Marketplace and Greece Ridge open at midnight, while more than 60 stores at Eastview will open earlier than 6 A.M. Friday.
