Mayor Tom Richards and County Executive Maggie Brooks have ordered mandatory evacuations of more than 2,200 homes along the Lake Ontario Shoreline. That includes some homes in Greece, Rochester, and Irondequoit.
YNN's Geoff Redick has a report from lakeside.
The rain may have died down, but the wind and waves along the Lake Ontario shore are much worse.
Police said the roads in the area of Edgemere Drive in Greece are closed to traffic coming in.
However, resident David Sasone said he’s not paying any attention to the evacuation orders. He plans to ride out the storm.
“I’ve been through a lot of this stuff before. I’ve been through ice storms and wind and everything,” Sasone said. “I got my generator all ready to go, I’ve got provisions, an extra sump pump. I’m not leaving.
Police said if you must be out and about, to be careful.
