Some small businesses got a chance to market products and services to the government and military. Monroe County hosted the United States Department of Defense Northeast Regional Council Conference.

This is the region's largest business to government sales event. More than 200 people from small companies in the Finger Lakes region took part in the three-day program to pitch their products or services to government, military and prime contractors.

The companies represent chemical, sanitation, electronics, security systems, manufacturing and auditing services.

Tina Barcley's company specializes in reliability and thermal analysis for high-tech electronics.

"Because most of the high tech electronics is military and government this is a very good area to concentrate my business on, which I am," said Tina Barcley, owner of TAS Consulting. "I have doubled my business each year and I have been in business three years so my goal is to keep getting more contracts."

The council says last year, small businesses in the Finger Lakes 8-county area secured $62 million in municipal, federal and state contracts.
