NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Some good news Wednesday in the fight to save hundreds of jobs at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

In a letter to lawmakers Tuesday Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced a 400 million dollar plan to save nearly 22-hundred jobs, that were slated for elimination, with the Air National Guard.
The plan will restore positions at bases that fly C - 130 cargo planes, like the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
Congressman Brian Higgins says he expects to learn more about how the plan will affect jobs with the 107th Airlift Wing within the next 24 hours.

"We will get clarity from the Department of Defense as to what this means directly to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and the air reserve troops and supporting personnel that are assigned there."

As part of the plan, 24 of 65 C-130's will be saved.
The base is set to lose more than 800 positions if a new mission is not secured by October 1st.
