A smoke alarm is credited for waking a family and allowing them to safely get of their burning home Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Peck Road in Parma just before 7 a.m. Thursday for the report of a house fire.
Sheriff's deputies say the homeowner's mother woke up to the smoke alarm and found the kitchen and back of the home engulfed in flames.
All five people in the home were able to get out safely, but the home was destroyed.
The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
