Toddler Falls Out Car Window, Family Member Charged

  • Text size: + -

Rochester police responded to the report of a toddler falling out of a car window Friday night.

They were called to Lake Avenue at Ridgeway around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Rochester police told YNN that a girl just shy of 2-years-old fell out a car window as it turned left onto Ridgeway from Lake Avenue.

Police said the 45-year-old woman relative driving the vehicle briefly fled the scene.

Rural Metro paramedics transported the child to Rochester General Hospital with what police described as cuts and scrapes.

Police have not yet determined how the toddler reached the vehicle window, as a car seat was properly installed in the back seat.

The driver was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
