If you hate cleaning the litter box there is now a robot that can do it for you. In this edition of Pet Pointers, Lisa Chelenza explains.
Would you love a litter box that does most of the work for you? Meet the “Litter-Robot.”
This self cleaning “Litter-Robot” is made in the USA and the grey eco-friendly unit is partially made of recycled materials. It arrives fully assembled with a base and the globe. Just set the globe on top of the base.
Here’s how it works, after your cat does their business, the robot uses a patented system that rotates after use to sift litter into a tray located under the globe leaving clean litter behind. Because the litter is sifted you will use it more efficiently. All you have to do is empty out the tray underneath and fill the globe with litter. The entire unit is made of plastic on the outside and rubber inside for easy cleaning.
Getting your cat to use the box may take some coaxing simply because it is a little different. The opening is large enough for most cats and even has a small step cats can use to enter.
Unlike other self cleaning litter boxes the “Litter-Robot” works with any clumping litter and you can use a basic plastic kitchen trash bag as a liner. It reduces odors and there is less litter tracked around the floor.
The basic model of the “Litter Robot” retails for about $300.00 and does include tray liners. If your cats are not happy, you can return the unit within 90 days for a full refund.
Remember; do not remove your old fashioned litter box right away. Wait until your cats are using both and then remove one. But it is not a bad idea to have at least two boxes at any given time.
